Cauldron Jack-o-Lantern

A jack-o-lantern glows through its face. A cauldron lamp glows through its brew. This one does both at full size — a 166 mm pot with a face carved clean through the front, a lift-off lid, and a disc of domed bubbles resting in the mouth over a color-changing RGB puck light. Four parts, no hardware, nothing to glue.

What's Included

Four Parts, One Puck Light

Nothing glues and nothing screws. The puck light sits in a recess in the floor of the pot with its lead out through the hole beside it, the diffuser cone stands over it, the brew disc drops into the mouth, and the lid goes on or stays off. Add an RGB puck light — that is the only thing you need that does not come off the printer.

166 × 158 × 111 mm, handles included. The carved face, the pot and the cord route in one part. 14 h 16 m, 217.04 g. Tree supports.
Lift-Off Lid
134.5 mm across, 33 mm tall. Seats about halfway into the rim, so the pot closes to roughly 128.5 mm tall. 6 h 25 m, 68.26 g. Tree supports.
Vase-Mode Cone
123 mm across the wide end, 97 mm tall, tapering to 77 mm at the narrow end that drops over the puck. A single-wall spiral that carries the light up to the brew instead of leaving a hot spot. 1 h 18 m, 22.37 g.
Bubbling Brew
134.5 mm across, 13 mm thick. A disc of domed bubbles that sits in the mouth and glows from underneath. Printed at 0.08 mm so the domes stay smooth. 2 h 19 m, 27.59 g.

Print Settings

Slice It Right

Three 3MF projects, because the four parts are sliced three different ways, and that is the whole trick to how this looks lit. The diffuser is not optional — without it the puck shows as a bright spot in the bottom of the pot instead of an even glow up through the brew.

The body and lid share one project with two plates, at 0.12 mm with 3 walls, 15% gyroid and tree supports on a 5 mm brim — 0.25 mm support Z gap and 3 interface layers, which is what lets the face supports lift out as one sheet instead of taking the teeth with them. The cone is vase mode: one wall, 0.2 mm layers, no supports, its own plate. The brew disc drops to 0.08 mm with 2 walls, lightning infill and a concentric top, no supports — the fine layers are what keep the bubble domes from stepping.

The cone goes in upside down from the way it prints: it prints wide-face down with the MakerX mark on the plate, and in the pot that face is up with the narrow end over the puck.
